Sophie Teversham is an associate labour and employment lawyer with Whitten & Lublin. She represents employees and employers in all manners of workplace law, including wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal, employment contracts, human rights, harassment, and workplace policies.

Sophie entered employment law because she believes that the foundation of both societal and individual success lies in the fair treatment of workers. The human element of employment law is what makes her work meaningful.  She understands that a thriving work environment not only promotes productivity but also empowers individual employees to reach their full potential.  Supporting employees in navigating their employment rights is her passion.

Sophie is committed to empowering her clients by providing thoughtful, practical options that allow them to navigate the legal landscape with confidence. Her compassionate, organized, and practical style combined with her hardworking character and personable demeanor, makes her both a relatable and trusted advocate. Sophie tailors her strategies with a focus on minimizing financial and emotional stress, guiding her clients towards successful results with sensitivity and care.

Sophie leverages her diverse background in commercial litigation, human rights and employment law, along with her experience appearing before various levels of Courts, Boards and Tribunals, when taking on a case. She approaches each case by exploring issues from multiple angles, using a fact based, detailed strategy, rooted in comprehensive research. This ensures she flushes out all relevant aspects to build compelling arguments grounded in her client’s goals, while also considering the broader implications for her clients.

Prior to joining Whitten & Lublin, Sophie was an associate at a national Bay Street law firm in Toronto.

In her spare time, Sophie enjoys exploring new coffee shops throughout Toronto, attending yoga and spin classes, and testing out new recipes.

Our impact.

I highly recommend the team at Whitten & Lublin to assist with any employment law issues. After losing my job of almost 30 years, I was left feeling uncertain of what the future would bring, especially in the severance area. My employer had air tight contracts and low balled my severance. I reached out to Whitten & Lublin for a free 30 minute consult. I was immediately connected with Sophie Teversham, Associate with the firm. Sophie was extremely understanding of the situation, calmed me down and assured me that she would try her best to help me and my family out. After speaking with other firms, I decided to continue my journey with Sophie at Whitten & Lublin. The other employment lawyers were cold, uncaring and frankly I felt that they were scared to take my case as the employment contracts were pretty air tight. Sophie made me feel that I was in charge, went through the process step by step with me, and her communication was very detailed throughout the process. Her advice was spot on, and her efforts in trying to get me more in the settlement was evident. I ended up receiving considerably more severance that was initially offered by the employer. This was a direct result of Sophie's work along with her team. I'm hoping I never have any more employment issues, but if I do, I know where to turn! Thank you Sophie and team of Whitten & Lublin!
