Lawsuit against McCarthy Tetrault
Through her wrongful dismissal claim, Diane LaCalamita has alleged “systemic, gender-based discrimination” against one of Canada’s largest law firms, McCarthy Tétrault LLP. The case is currently making it’s way through the courts.
Gender discrimination issues aside, right now the major story developing from this case is the Order by Master Ronna Brott. The Order is for McCarthy’s to produce documentation on what is normally very private information outlining their policies on employee and partner salaries, billing rates, performance reviews as well as an internal report on gender issues at the firm, conducted by Catalyst Inc.
